The purpose of the Foundation exam is to confirm you have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the Change Management guidance to enable you to contribute effectively to change management activities; enable you to understand and explain change management to others; and pre-qualify you for the Change Management Practitioner Exam.

  • Exam Format:
    • 40 minutes
    • Closed book
    • Tests that you have read and understood the principles of change management
    • 50 questions, multi-choice
    • Requires 25 (50%) correct answers or more to pass
    • You do not lose marks for incorrect answers
    • Candidates who wish to take the Practitioner level examination need to pass the Foundation exam.

The Practitioner exam tests whether a candidate knows how to analyse and apply the change management approaches and techniques to the management of change within their organisation in a tailored manner. This course will be of particular interest to:

  • Managers, Project Managers, Change Managers and Project and Programme Office staff and their sponsors.
  • Those who apply the methods in other PPM guides to build on and enhance the activities to maximise value and delivery of benefits.

  • Exam Format:
    • Exam Requirement: Foundation Exam Pass
    • Multiple choice (objective) testing
    • 8 question areas with 10 question items per question area - all question items will be worth 1 mark, making the total number of marks available per paper 80
    • 40 marks required (out of 80 available) to pass - 50%
    • Two-and-a-half hours’ duration
    • Open book exam

The purpose of the Practitioner level is to re-confirm your change management practitioner abilities after, at least, three years’ experience in change management activities. You would have passed the Practitioner exam at least three years prior before you can take this recertification exam.

  • Exam Format:
    • Exam Requirement: Practitioner Exam Pass
    • Multiple choice (objective) testing
    • 2 question areas with 20 question items per question area - all question items will be worth 1 mark, making the total number of marks available per paper 40
    • 20 marks required (out of 40 available) to pass - 50%
    • 90 minutes duration
    • Open book exam
